Young Fan Base

So we’re riding in the car the other day and Sam decides to put his new CD into the CD player.  Now I bought the CD, so you know I’m probably okay with it … and we had been listening to “my” radio station most of the day.  He skips around and finds the song(s) he’s looking for, and then we hear this in the back seat where Sophie and Claire are sitting.

Claire: “Hey Sophie, do you like this song?  Do you know it?”

Sophie: “Yes, I like this song.”

Claire: “Me too.  I like it.  It’s Bon Jovi.  <insert big smile here>  Have a Nice Day.”  At which point Claire begins to dance, as much as one can in a car seat, like she’s at a live show.

Sophie: “So, Claire … where’d ya learn to do that.  That’s some pretty amazing dancing.”

Claire: “I had a dance party in Sam’s room while he was working.”

I’m thinking that there may not have been too much working going on that afternoon.  :-)  Ah, … the ramblings of a 3-year old.

A Toy’s Story

We just realized that this toy, Woody, will be turning 10 in a couple weeks. We hadn’t seen Woody, or Buzz for that matter, in quite a while. Like all toys, they somehow were forgotten amongst the iPods, Wii’s and other new toys.

At Christmas though, these toys were rescued from oblivion by Claire and her cousin, Piper. And since their return to the playroom, even Sam, Sophie and Wilson have enjoyed their presence. They did acheive a new level of playroom status this week. Woody and Buzz were invited to “Library Time” with Claire. She set up her spot and proceeded to “read” The Nutcracker to them.

The biggest laugh this week though came when Claire came out and told me “somebody’s poisoned the water hole.”

Happy Birthday, Claire…..

Although today is actually Wilson’s 7th birthday, I’m just getting the pictures from Claire’s first birthday posted.  So I guess I’ll have to post the photos of Wilson tomorrow.  Wilson spent the the morning today at LaCrosse Camp, the afternoon opening a “tub of fun” from his grandparents, and the rest of the afternoon playing golf at the Winthrop golf course with his dad.  Mark took the day off today and Wilson has thoroughly enjoyed that special present.

Claire spent her special day with almost all her family.  Her great grandmother, one set of grandparents and an Aunt/Uncle/Cousin/Cousin crew all joined us for the festivities.  Claire had a “Polka Dot” party and knew exactly what to do with the birthday cake.  Here are a few photos.

As Year One Comes to a Close …

Claire is rapidly approaching her first birthday, when people stop marking time in days and months and begin keeping track by years.  It doesn’t seem like it’s been a year since she arrived.  She is most certainly the most content and unflappable baby.  Here are a few shots of her most recent activities.Mommy and Claire My First Donut Tubby Time More Bubbles

      What’s that green stuff?

What was the green stuff oozing out off the corner?  It looked suspicious, and an uninformed observer might have been concerned when Claire turned her head sideways, smiled and licked it.  “What is the mystery substance?” you ask.  “And where is it coming from?”  Why, that’s the Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream Claire ate for dinner and she really liked it.  She didn’t let any of the drops get away.  What could be better after a round of Whole Grain Cheerios?
