Boiling H2O

Published by Chloe under Uncategorized

It’s been a day and a half here.  This was the last day of our spring CoOp, and somehow I was on deck to teach two classes.  Someone else wanted to go to the beach at the last minute, so I got to teach an art class today. After teaching, there was a planning meeting, a trip home to pick up Claire from the baby sitter, a trip back to CoOp to pick up Sam-Soph-and-Wils, and then a play day at the local park.

When we finally did get home, Claire decided to sleep for 27 minutes, Soph and Wils rested for about 19 1/2 minutes, and Sam decided to catch the end of A NEW HOPE in their absence.

So, what will we eat for dinner?  Last night was devoted to lesson preparation, so there wasn’t any crock pot meal in the works.  I think that we’ll try this,  pasta dish courtesy of the Emeril and the Food Network. I just started to boil the water….

What’s for dinner tonight?

Published by Chloe under Uncategorized, recipe challenge

Over the last few weeks, I’ve tried several new main dish dinner recipes.  Three of the four were definately worth repeating, one was not.  Try one or two out for yourself.  These came from Southern Living and MyRecipes.

    Beef Lombardi

    Fiesta Taco Lasagna

    Mexican Lasagna

We won’t be trying All-In-One Spaghetti again.  I suspected that the noodles in this might not perform well, and I was right.  Not one of my better productions, but I’m going to blame some of it on the recipe.

What’s up with this?

Published by Chloe under Uncategorized

The new official olympic swim suits are out, the Lzr.  I believe it stands for “laser” because the swimmers should be able to cut through the water so much more effortlessly.  I’ll say this - I hope they aren’t made available to the general public.  This could be MUCH worse that lycra leggings and crocheted over-tops ever were.  Take a look. No, wait… don’t look.  These should come with a rating system.  We might as well just spray them down with silicone and let them go - Who needs a suit?  YIKES!  Did I mention that the ladies will also wear the suit?  Odd that the color blocks should be so strategically placed.

I learned something yesterday…

Published by Chloe under Life on the Farm

We are planting an herb garden this year.  In addition to being tired of paying ridiculous prices for fresh herbs, I thought the kids would enjoy doing this.  We started our project yesterday and will wrap it up today.  If all goes well, I’ll even have some pictures.  ”But what did she learn?” you may be asking yourself.  I learned that corriander comes from a well know herb.  Two years ago I asked my mom what I could substitute for corriander because I didn’t have any.  Neither of us really knew from where is was derived.  NEWS FLASH:  corriander is collected as the seed of the Cilantro herb.  Who knew?

What’s that green stuff?

Published by Chloe under Claire, Family Fun

What was the green stuff oozing out off the corner?  It looked suspicious, and an uninformed observer might have been concerned when Claire turned her head sideways, smiled and licked it.  ”What is the mystery substance?” you ask.  ”And where is it coming from?”  Why, that’s the Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream Claire ate for dinner and she really liked it.  She didn’t let any of the drops get away.  What could be better after a round of Whole Grain Cheerios?
