So, today I treated myself to a lovely blue French Souffle’ dish. A couple of weeks ago I made some LOVELY chocolate individual souffle’s for dinner. I think it was Valentine’s Day. No telling what treats I’ll be experimenting with now!! :-)

National History Day

Published by Chloe under Uncategorized

Last week, Sam was one of three students selected from our local home-school group as a winner of the local National History Day competition. He and his paper will be going to the Regional competition on March 12th. He’s in the final stages of cleaning up the paper for the competition and is getting excited. This year’s topic was “Innovations in History”. Go Sam!!

And the Days are not Full Enough - by Ezra Pound

Published by Chloe under Uncategorized

And the days are not full enough
And the nights are not full enough
And life slips by like a field mouse
Not shaking the grass
- Ezra Pound

    That about sums it up.

    Landslide

    Published by Chloe under Uncategorized

So, yesterday morning the kids were quizzing each other about birthdays and ages, and it was determined that this was the year mom will turn 40. I, of course, was willing to let this particular birthday pass unnoticed. Upon figuring out that I will be forty this year, Sam … with every good intention said to me,

Sam “For someone that’s so old, you look really great, Mom.”

Mom“Thanks, honey.” (incredulous look passes over face … smiles in an attempt to overcome the shock) “Let’s listen to the radio for a little while.”

    Mom turns on the radio.

And what’s playing on the radio you may ask …

Well I’ve been ‘fraid of changing ‘cause I
    Built my life around you
    But time makes you bolder
Children get older, I’m getting older too

The chorus to Landslide, by Stevie Nicks, 1975.

Like a kick in the stomach. Booo….
